Description Provenance Exhibitions Bibliography

The subject of the present plaster is the princess Anna Maria de Ferrari (wife of Scipione Borghese), an Italian aristocrat. She was depicted by Troubetzkoy in two portraits one standing and the other seated. The sculpture depicts Anna Maria Borghese standing, and could be dated between 1908 and 1909, considering that the bronze had been exhibited for the first time in 1909 at the Esposizione of the Amatori and Cultori of Rome. The other sculpture of Anna Maria Borghese seated could be attributed to this same period, as the portrait of her younger daughter Livia and the older daughter Santa. All the versions in bronze mentioned above are kept in a private Italian Collection, together with a watercolour painting by Troubetzkoy, depicting Anna Maria seated (Frezzotti, 2017).
