The Granduke Pavel Aleksandrovič Romanov (1860-1919) was the youngest child of Zar Alexander II. The present plaster could be dated aruond 1910 for its stylistic affinities with a similar plaster, the portrait of the Granduke Andrej Vladimirovic Romanov, signed and dated P. Troubetzkoy 1910 from the Museo del Paesaggio in Verbania (inv. T n. 155). Another bronze exists at the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg (58 x 19 x 16.5) signed Paris 1910 Paul Troubetzkoy with the Valsuani foundry mark (Gavrilovich, 2017).
