Description Provenance Exhibitions Bibliography

This plaster had always been identified with the portrait of Troubetzkoy’s brother, Pierre. This is confirmed by a photograph which is stored by the descendants of Troubetzkoy. Its richness of detail and small dimensions suggest that it was made after 1890. Moreover, the nude torso and pose with crossed arms had been experimented by the artist in 1896, during the work carried out on the bust of Giovanni Segantini. In the Museo del Paesaggio in Verbania are preserved two plaster replicas of the bronze (inv. T 184, inv. T 185).
