Portrait of Celestina Barbiera Strzelecki (Ritratto di Celestina Barbiera Strzelecki)
The baroness Celestina Barbiera Strzelecki (Venice 1859 – Milan 1893) married in 1889 the writer and publicist Raffaello Barbiera. Barbiera was a regular of the “scapigliati” environments. Following the Baroness’ death, Barbiera commissioned Luigi Conconi to design his wife’s tomb. The small funerary monument is still located at the Cimitero Monumentale of Milan with a medallion depicting the Baroness, designed by Troubetzkoy. The bust in marble is stored at the Museo del Paesaggio in Verbania.
