Human Brutality (Brutalità Umana)
The artwork, inspired by the artist’s love for animals, was carried out by Troubetzkoy also in another version, which is kept in the Museo del Paesaggio’s collection (inv. T n. 91). The present plaster had probably been created during his first Russian sojourn (1897- 1905). Due to its realistic character, the present plaster could be associated to two additional artworks, a bronze group kept at the Galleria D’Arte Moderna of Venice and the plaster titled “Divoratori di cadaveri” conserved at the Museo del Paesaggio, Verbania. Gavrilovich (2017) states that no review or text on the present plaster has been found.
