The present bust depicts Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) as a young man. Made of plaster, the bust was overpainted in dark to give a bronze finish. The sculpture is mounted on a white painted wooden base designed for the sculpture. The work was formerly in Roosevelt’s home in New York city. When the home was dismantled, Roosevelt donated the model to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt library. A bronze casting of the present sculpture exists in the hall of Roosevelt’s home in Springwood, Hyde Park, New York.
Deposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Frankin D. Roosevelt on 15 June 1942;
Donated as a bequest of Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Library, 1947.
